Tout va bien

February 23, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’m sort of a freak for Godard. At this very moment, it takes more effort for me to write in English than French, which is a rarity anymore.

I had a some bevs with my girl roommates tonight, and while they continued their nights, I came home to enjoy Tout va bien, which Jean-Luc Godard directed in 1972.

I miss my French film classes. Difficult as they could be, they were the classes where I felt my love for the French and English arts meld. Godard was one of the cinematic godfathers of la nouvelle vague; if you haven’t experienced this period of French film, you ought to do so as soon as you possibly can.

Now. Who wants to watch Au Bout de Souffle?

I’m a damn idiot.

July 28, 2007 · 2 Comments

Don’t even ask me how this craziness started at 10:30 on a Friday night, but I just learned that Liza Minelli is Judy Garland’s daughter. I must be a damn idiot to have a decent knowledge about film and have had no prior knowledge of this fruit bearing.

Honestly, I never knew what Liza Minelli did to get famous, aside from hanging out with Michael Jackson, wearing way too much makeup, and marrying a gay guy (?).

Suddenly, like Celine Dion, it’s all coming back to me. No wonder Liza is crazy. Her mom was frickin’ Judy Garland! Amazingly talented + overdosing on barbiturates = major complex for the childrens.

My mother will be so disappointed with me when I uncover this revelation.
