You should know…I’ve been having a small laugh about this for days. I’m sure I’m creating loads of bad karma for our upcoming trip to Steamboat, but I can’t help myself. Poor guy.

Here Nor There

Wow…a week since my last post?
These last couple of weeks have flown by (August? At our heels already?) with piles of work and trying to cram as much fun as possible into the weekends. Honestly, thinking back on it in tandem with how little time I have to get this out, I don’t think it’s possible to share it all with you.
But you can browse my Flickr photos* to get an idea of where we’ve been. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos yesterday during our latest boat outing where I finally made it up on water skiis for more than a couple seconds AND without injury. I know; big day for the Megster.
The rest of the weekend will be spent cleaning my place and trying to birth an article, which I’m not particularly looking forward to. Mostly because I’m extremely sore and would rather be lying down.
So there’s my lack of news. What’s been going on with you all?
*Some photos are restricted to Flickr friends + family, for no other reason than they include some photos of my neighborhood and building and I’m paranoid like that. So if you’re not already a Flickr contact of mine, please add me!

Fun with Friends

My baby craze is sorta over. It ended when Bregar was belaboring a career move and said something about “tenure after six years.” And I said, “Would you really want to do that for six years?” Which reminded me of the permanence of parenthood. I figure once I can get over my fear of mortgages, I’ll be ready to deal with a commitment on par with kids.
ANYWAY, as most of you know, my best friend Kate was out here this past weekend and we had a great time. We’ve lived in separate cites for almost a decade, so it’s a treat just to be able to have a bev and chat face to face.
I’ll share with you a couple photos from the weekend, starting with my favorite. It’s of D, hating on this seriously odd girl who sat next to us at a hookah bar. I can’t even explain it to you and keep good karma. But the photo cracks me up, through and through. (more…)

Yesterday was ‘peak day’ for the cherry blossoms, although they’re considerably fuller today than they were yesterday. I really need to get out and take some photos. This one came from the Flickr DCist pool—pretty, right? Great shot, Glass Window.

Oh, my. Lots of gems today. And Chris Glass is right…a photo like this is made better by its total lack of context.
Of course, if you’ve got ideas or photo captions you’d like to share, please fire away via comments.

Nice Drive

In Colorado we get some pretty great sunrises and sunsets. Tonight was no exception. It started off looking very Vanilla Sky when I left the office and by the time I got to my apartment and grabbed my camera, the sky and spilled into gorgeous oranges and reds.
It was a nice sight to cruise home to, with the Radiohead’s In Rainbows as my co-pilot.

If My Brains Are Mashed Potatoes, I’d Like a Heap of Them

Silly me, I thought I’d have time for a quick post while I was home for Thanksgiving. Not so much. I’m completely worn out and have to have brought a couple extra pounds with me.
D was also home, which gave us ample time to spend time together with our families. The six of us (plus D’s sister and brother-in-law) even met each other for the first time, which was cool. Suffice it to say, all went well. And because my brain feels like mashed potatoes, I’ll post a few photos for now and catch up with you later.

Keira lookin’ cute.

The Life We Once Knew

I’ve had a hell of a last 24 hours. This morning while I was cleaning, it occurred to me that looking at a lit Christmas tree might make me happy. So I put it up. I know, that makes me a crazy person (a charge I won’t dispute). But at least it’ll be up when I get home from Thanksgiving in Iowa. However that may go.

I came home from work yesterday, feeling lousy with a cold. E was snoozing in the sun so I snapped a couple pictures of her. She may be a crackhead and occasionally pee in my sink (and cover it up with whatever happens to be laying on the counter), but I dig her. She’s my buddy.
