I think I do a pretty good job separating work and personal goings-ons. But nonetheless, I was an instant fan of this recent post of Seth Godin’s, entitled “It’s just business”.
“It’s just life.”
Anyone who is willing to lie to you, cheat you or treat you with disrespect because it’s just business is doing more damage to herself than to you.
Work takes too much time and too much emotion for it to be just work. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t want to spend time or money with anyone who has this particular attitude disfunction.
Can’t say I disagree with anything here (except for the incorrect spelling of ‘dysfunction’). And it speaks to one of my favorite Sigmund Freud quotes, which is that “Love and work are the cornerstones of our humanness.”
So, on a related note, don’t be an asshole. In your professional or your personal life. And if you need help with the former, I suggest taking a look at this book.
