In A Manner of Speaking

I’m a big believer in words.

I’ve devoted my entire life to words. In two different languages. And while we all slip up from time to time and say something we don’t mean, I can tell you that nearly everything I say is deliberate and has a purpose. I’ve never understood people who use words frivolously. It’s a matter of integrity to me; I strive to mean what I say and say what I mean. Anything else just means you’re screwing with someone.

If you can surround yourself with other people who mean what they say and say what they mean, life suddenly becomes much easier.

And, if you’re still not sure someone’s being straight with you, my advice is: listen to what they don’t say. Powerful as words may be, clarity and truth are often revealed in the silence.
