So, This is the New Year

Let’s call a spade a spade: New Year’s Day should really be renamed National Hangover Recovery Day, and our favorite greasy breakfast sit-downs should still be open, as should just about everything else except our offices.

I’m decidedly feeling more tired than hungover, but that’s neither here nor there. The mentality is that I probably won’t do much today. And I don’t feel bad about it.

ANYWAY, last night some of us enjoyed a low-key New Year at Brandy and Sean’s, where gifts were given, food was eaten, and many drinks were had. We even busted it out Jenga (for Boozers) and had a gay old time.

A few party photos after the jump. And if you’re looking for the famed dip I brought to the party last night, click through to get the recipe, too. đŸ™‚

In rare form, Sean uses his dance moves to keep Brandy from turning down the music. (I also like this photo because you can see that the portrait on the wall is askew. That’s because earlier Sean was scratching his own ass so fervently that he fell into it.) See some of the live action of the dance defense here; there are also a few more party photos in the Holladaze Flickr set.

If, by chance, you are looking for the crazy good dip recipe from last night, here it is!

Pineapple Cheese Ball

2 8 oz. packages of Philadelphia cream cheese (you can also buy a big tub of it…and it’s up to you whether or not you want to buy the reduced fat version; I do.)

1 8 oz. can of crushed pineapple, drained (get as much juice out as you can)

1 C. chopped pecans

1/2 c. green pepper, chopped

2 Tbls. green onion

1 Teas. Lowry’s Seasoning Salt (don’t forget this one!)

Mix all together, saving a few nuts. Shape it any way you like and top lightly with leftover pecans. Refrigerate and serve with crackers. (I prefer Wheat Thins, but get what you like. The crackers are mostly just a vessel through which to transport cream cheese into your body. Or as Jordan so aptly put it, you need crackers “because you can’t suck it through a straw.”)

I know it’s a crazy mixture, but those of you who have had can attest to its goodness. I’ll definitely be snacking on this as I watch movies from the couch today.

So. All in all, a good New Year’s Eve. It’s safe to say that I missed the crap out of D. And despite our current geographical standing, we’re both excited to start another new year together. And if we’re not together for New Year’s next year…well. Someone’s ass is getting a kicking.

Enjoy your day off, friends!
